Great God, who are the Eternal of hosts and the God of peace, look down from the height of your Heaven on the confusions which are on earth, or those who profess to be Christians, and to be Disciples of your Christ the Prince of Peace, tear each other apart and destroy each other by continual wars. Christian blood is flowing on all sides, and Christendom today is a dreadful theater of the most violent passions.
The infidels triumph and rejoice to see that the name Christian is being destroyed little by little; your children sigh to see these desolations; but it is only you who can put an end to it and change the swords into guts; You flex men's hearts as you please. You tame their passions, and you calm the most furious storms.
O God, calm all these movements, and give us peace. Make this peace useful to your Church, let it see its sanctuaries rebuilt, its hovels raised, its herds gathered. United all Christians; that they are all but one heart and one groin; may they all profess the pure doctrine of your Christ, may they all know your truth and may your Church no longer be troubled by errors and vices.
Make your Gospel known throughout the Universe; that all peoples be subject to your dear Son; your kingdom come, and hasten those happy days, when you will bring your dear children into the abode of peace. Amen.
