In dreams, the bird symbolises above all freedom. However, if you think about it, this freedom is conditioned by the strength of the wind, which the bird exploits to fly faster and higher, but which it must also sometimes fight when the winds are contrary or very powerful. Thus, whether the bird flies with the wind or fights against it to fly, it shows a certain willpower in any case. When a bird flies in his dream, the dreamer can see it as a symbol of his freedom, which he can acquire by dint of his will. As for the bird's song, in the absolute, it represents the "voice of God", and for the dreamer, an important message, which he receives from his soul or his psyche. The nature and content of this message will probably be revealed to him by the species of bird present in his dream.

The myths of the fish-woman, the mermaid, and the bird-man Icarus or the angel, continue to fascinate us. Who among us has not dreamed one day that he was swimming freely in the immensity of the ocean depths or that he was flying, like a bird, high in the sky?

Some palaeontologists (palaeontology is the science of plant and animal fossils) put forward the hypothesis that birds appeared in the Jurassic period, i.e. around 150 to 200 million years ago. Others believe that they were an animal species that arose after the extinction of the dinosaurs about 60 million years ago, and that these fascinating 'terrible or fearsome lizards', as their Greek name suggests, were the ancestors of birds.   But whatever the unthinkable number of years that separate us from the appearance of birds, according to current scientific evolutionary theories, the ancestors of birds were indeed reptiles. But where did reptiles come from, if not from the waters from which they seem to have emerged in the Devonian period, i.e. about 400 million years ago.

Hence we can imagine, and not deduce, that fish and birds have a common trunk, since it seems that what we call the pulmonate fish, equipped with gills, and the amphibians, which can live simultaneously in and out of the water - as the frog always does - were born at the same time. Did our distant ancestors know this, who perceived similarities between fish and birds, and whose myths and symbols they attributed to them are often so similar?

Did they understand this long before scientists showed us that they may have been born from the same mould, to follow two distinct evolutionary paths and become the countless species of fish and birds that we know today? No, probably not, but as always, they had the intuition, and with their amazed eyes, they established a subtle link between fish and birds.

Each bird (lark, dove, swallow, blackbird, nightingale, etc.) can carry a particular message. We will only refer here to the bird in the broad sense, without worrying about its name or its particular nature.

Dream of a bird

A third person will play an important role in your life or situation in the near future. If it was a migratory bird, this person, with an unstable or very independent character, will be passing through your life, living abroad or travelling often.

If you dreamt of a bird of prey, it will be a greedy, dominating, demanding, solitary person, or a tenacious and dangerous enemy. If you dreamed of a stilt walker, the person in question will be proud, proud, rich, or from a very different social milieu from yours. If you dreamt of a gallinaceous, the person will be hard-working, productive and generous, but lacking in intelligence and open-mindedness. If you dreamt of a climbing bird, this person will be intelligent, perceptive, cunning, but also opportunistic, letting themselves be lived or taken care of by others. Or finally, if you dreamed of a bird of an unknown species, or one that you do not know, you will be dealing with a person who is out of the ordinary, original, who will surprise you, and whom you may not be able to do without.

Dream of hearing a bird sing

You will learn some surprising news. Or you will experience and discover new feelings. Or you will receive a declaration of love.

Dream of a bird in a cage

You will be dealing with or loving a person who is not free to move, choose, make decisions or/and feel. Or you will not be able to do what you want. Or you will be a prisoner or victim of a situation that you probably instigated.

Dream of a bird entering and flying inside a house

A happy event will occur in your family life or home. Or a new love will enter your life and take you further than you can imagine.

Dream of a wounded bird

Despite your best efforts, you will not be able to forget a disappointment or painful event that has just occurred. Or, a person who has suffered a sentimental disappointment will confide in you, and seek your comfort.

Dream of a bird flying away

You will make a new start. Or you will take a journey. Or you will soon be able to free yourself from a number of contingencies, and gain greater freedom. Or a loved one or a child will soon leave you and 'fly away'.
