The appearance of a ram in a dream relates you to an imperious, ardent desire, an impulsive and aggressive impulse of which you are the prey, but also sometimes an anxious state, impatience and blindness.

The ram in the dream may also emphasise the proud, prideful, touchy, or warlike aspect of your character, or the fact that you lack lucidity and objectivity.

However, the ram in your dream can still relate to your spirit of initiative, your spontaneous, generous, unselfish impulses, the enterprising and optimistic aspect of your character this time.

Horns of the ram

In the form of spirals, the horns of the ram symbolise the impulse towards life, the eternal restarting or the eternal rebirth of life, of light. The Egyptian god Amun, whose temple was erected at Karnac, and who was also the god of Thebes, was represented by a man with a ram's head and horns. The Egyptian priests and scribes attributed to him the power to bring to light the hidden causes of the secret forces of life. He had an oracular function.

The Greek Amun, whom Alexander the Great worshipped and regularly consulted in the sanctuary of the Oasis, near Athens, derived from the ancient Egyptian god Amun. The Greeks attributed to him virtues similar to those of Zeus. Hence the analogy sometimes made between thunder, lightning, storm and the ram, which is still found in the myth of Thor, the Germanic god of storms, also in analogy with the ram. In the Bible, the ram is sacrificed by Abraham in place of his son, Isaac. Jesus, the sacrificial lamb, updates this myth in Christian history. Aries, the Latin name for the zodiac sign of Aries, was a ram-headed war machine used by the Romans to break down the doors of their enemies' fortresses. It was also, of course, the name of the male sheep. In Rome, a ram was offered to the parents of a dead person in case of reckless homicide.

Ram's bell
Belinus or Beli, the Celtic supreme god of light, may have been derived from Bel, the Babylonian god of the earth, who was derived from the Sumerian goddess Belili, who presided over the cult of birth and life. The medieval Latin Belinus gave rise to the Old French Belin, which meant "sheep". In the 16th century, beliner meant 'to mate' figuratively for humans, in analogy with the mating of the ram and the ewe. The Dutch Belhamel (from bel: bell, and hamel: sheep) referred to the ram as the leader of the flock, recognisable by the bell around his neck.

Dream of a ram

A project will come to fruition in the near future. Either you will take on a leading role, a leadership role, or take over the management of a company. Or you will make a discovery, know everything you want to know, or say everything you think.

Dream of petting a ram

Apparently you have managed to contain your impatience or blind impulses. Or, you will progress slowly but surely. Or you will enjoy a great success.

Dream of an injured or sacrificed Aries

You will be forced to give up a project. Or, you will have to make great sacrifices to achieve your ends or reach the goal you have set for yourself. Or you will refuse a proposal, a reward or an honour. Or you are about to become angry.
