Very effective novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help

First day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, how much I love to come and pray at the foot of your miraculous image! It always awakens in my soul the feelings of the liveliest and most filial confidence. In your arms I see Jesus, my Savior and my God. He is the Almighty, the absolute Master of life and death, the sovereign giver of all good and all grace. And you are his Mother! So you have every right to ask and every right to be answered. He has proven moreover that he neither knows nor wants to refuse you anything.
I address myself therefore to your all-powerful intercession, O Mother of Jesus, and beg you to grant me grace ... (Designate here the intentions of the novena). I will pray to you with confidence, confident that you will pray for me.

Second day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, in this trembling Jesus whom you hold against your heart, you see not only the Son of God, your Son, but also all men, who have become, by the will of God, and by your acceptance, your real children. You do not forget the scene of Calvary, where, by a divine substitution, your expiring Jesus, asked you to find him in each of us. This Jesus, therefore, who runs to throw himself into your arms, frightened by the prospect of the cross, and who seeks defense and consolation from you, it is every soul who suffers, it is my soul who is coming at this moment to assert his rights to your tenderness and protection.
O my Mother, with this completely filial simplicity, I come to tell you how happy I am to be your child, how great my love for you is. I also come to present my request to you; you know her: O my Mother, hear me.

Third day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, yes, I love to contemplate your blessed image. She speaks to me eloquently of all your greatness. I see your glorious title of Mother of God inscribed there! I see the Archangel Gabriel there, the divine Ambassador who greeted you "full of grace". I see the Archangel Saint Michael there, whose presence reminds us that you are in command of the heavenly militias. In your hand you hold the King of kings. All this tells me again that you are the most blessed Woman, the most beautiful ornament in the universe, the only creature deemed worthy of becoming the Mother of the Incarnate Word. You are the Immaculate, the most Holy, the masterpiece of the Most High, the abyss of all perfection. You are the Queen of the earth and the heavens.
O wonderful Mother! I take pleasure in proclaiming your holiness and your glories. Far from frightening me, your incomparable greatness only increases my confidence. If God has made you so holy and so powerful, it is for our salvation, and if you rejoice in your divine privileges, it is because they allow you to help us better. O Incomparable Mother, grant me the grace I ask for from your sovereign power.

Fourth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, your sweet image smiles on our hearts of exiles. You appear to us there as the sacred Stem on which blooms the Flower of all purity and all virtue, your Jesus. Offered in this way by your maternal hands, it more sweetly wins the love of our hearts. On your forehead I see a radiant star shining. Are you not, in fact, the “Morning Star” who announced to us the day of salvation and redemption, promises us the day without decline of blessed eternity?
Are you not the “Star of the Sea” who radiates hope in the midst of the darkest storms?
O most gracious Mother, how light you make the burden of duty for us, and how sweet the yoke of Jesus Christ! Also your memory brings joy to my heart; your name alone brings peace to my restless soul. Let me tell you always: O Mother so worthy to be loved, I love you! Through you and with you, I love your Divine Son! O our hope, hear me!

Fifth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, I find, in your holy image, another pressing reason to hope in your goodness. There you show yourself the Mother of Sorrows. It is Jesus, crucified in his heart before being so in his flesh, that you embrace in your arms. The painful sight of the instruments of his passion makes him shudder; you suffer with him and that was the martyrdom of your whole life. I therefore understand the excellence of your merits, the reality of your title of redemptrix of men and the omnipotence of your intercession with divine justice.
Like you, O Mary, I sympathize with the sufferings of your son, and like him, I sympathize with your maternal sufferings. My compassion is all the more keen because it is my sins which, by attaching Jesus to the cross, tortured your loving soul. Today it is in the name of your pain that I beg you. Give me contrition for my sins and the courage to avoid them. Deign also to favorably accept my request which I address to you in this novena.

Sixth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, your touching image tells me: you have suffered and suffered a lot. Because you are good and you are our Mother, suffering has made you sympathetic to our sorrows; all the more so, as having cost you more, we are dearer to you. This compassion towards us, I see it in your eyes imbued with a tender pity, which is fixed less on your Divine Son than on your poor children of the earth. How sweet it is to the overwhelmed soul to meet a friendly heart that knows how to sympathize! But when this heart is that of a mother, and of a mother like you, it is the supreme consolation of life.
At your feet, therefore, I have just regained courage. O Compassionate Mother! I am sure you will not abandon your child. Hear the cry of my misery, speak to my soul the word which consoles and grant me the favor which I implore from your kindness.

Seventh day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, I address myself to you, because it is to you that I must ask and it is you who must answer me; you are the treasurer of the Good Lord, who wants all grace to pass through your hands. Your image reminds me that you are the Mother of Jesus, the Mother of Sorrows, and that you are my Mother. Mother of Jesus, you have his merits and his heart. Mother of Sorrows, your sufferings, united with those of Jesus, have constituted the treasure of Redemption. Mother of men, you have accepted the obligation to come to our aid.
Yes, I know, a soul protected by you cannot be forsaken of God or be lost, and a soul faithful to call on you is sure of your protection. It is therefore with confidence that I turn to you. Obtain for me fidelity to your service, a pledge of perseverance and salvation; obtain for me also the favor which, during this novena, I ask of your maternal tenderness.

Eighth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, a feeling of fear sometimes invades my soul. You are, it is true, powerful and good: yet when I think of my misery, I tremble, and I even find myself daring to dare to address myself to you and implore your favors. But your sweet image seems to tell me: “Trust, my child! Am I not the Mother of Mercy who seeks not merits to be rewarded but evils to be cured? Doesn't my title of Mother of Perpetual Help proclaim that I must relieve all misery? "
It is therefore to your mercy that I appeal on this day, O Mary; my confidence rests on your indulgent and compassionate kindness. It's up to you to protect me, to help me, to console me.

Ninth day:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, here I am at the end of this novena where, every day, I came to prostrate myself at your feet. Today more than ever, my supplication rises to you, ardent and confident. I cannot doubt it, you have heard my prayer: you will grant me or what I ask, or a still more precious grace. Through your Son, through your pains, through your merciful love, and above all through your title of Mother of Perpetual Help, hear me! Oh ! yes, this title of Perpetual Help, tells me that I am allowed to insist, that I can, that I must always count on your assistance: at all hours of my life, in all my needs, in all my dangers, in all my troubles, for all the graces I need.
O my Mother, my confidence is so great that from now on I say thank you! Thank you for the graces of the past; thank you for those I expect from your inexhaustible love. Yes, I will pray to you until my last breath, until I can, in my heaven, love you, praise you and thank you eternally. So be it.

REMEMBER, O most merciful Virgin Mary, that it has never been heard of anyone who has resorted to your protection, implored your assistance or requested your intercession, has been abandoned. Animated by such confidence, O Virgin of virgins, O my Mother, I come to you, and groaning under the weight of my sins, I bow down at your feet. O Mother of the Incarnate Word, do not reject my prayers, but listen to them favorably and deign to answer them. So be it.
