This psalm has no Holy Name or special prayer, yet it has the virtue of getting out of prison whoever recites it with respect and confidence for a certain time seven times a day.
Psalm 71
71.1
Eternal! I seek my refuge in you: May I never be confused!
71.2
In your righteousness, save me and deliver me! Incline your ear to me, and help me!
71.3
Be for me a rock that serves me as an asylum, Where I can always retire! You have resolved to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
71.4
My God, deliver me from the hand of the wicked, From the hand of a wicked and violent man!
71.5
For you are my hope, Lord Eternal! I trust in you from my youth.
71.6
From my mother's womb I lean on you; It was you who brought me out of the mother's womb; you are constantly the object of my praise.
71.7
I am like a wonder to many, And you are my mighty refuge.
71.8
May my mouth be filled with your praise, May it glorify you every day!
71.9
Do not reject me in the time of old age; When my strength is gone, do not abandon me!
71.10
For my enemies speak of me, and those who lie in wait for my life consult with one another,
71.11
Saying: God forsakes him; Go on, grab it; there is no one to deliver it.
71.12
O God, do not stray from me! My God, come to my aid in haste!
71.13
Let those who want my life be confused, annihilated! May they be covered with shame and reproach, those who seek my downfall!
71.14
And I, I will always hope, I will praise you more and more.
71.15
My mouth will proclaim your righteousness and your salvation every day, for I do not know what the limits are.
71.16
I will speak of your mighty works, Lord Eternal! I will recall your justice, yours alone.
71.17
O God! you taught me from my youth, And until now I proclaim your wonders.
71.18
Do not forsake me, O God! even in white old age, So that I may announce your strength to the present generation, Your power to the future generation!
71.19
Your justice, O God! reached up to the sky; You have accomplished great things: O God! who is like you?
71.20
You have made us experience many troubles and misfortunes; But you will give us life again, You will bring us up from the depths of the earth.
71.21
Raise my greatness, Comfort me again!
71.22
And I will praise you with the sound of the lute, I will sing of your faithfulness, my God, I will praise you with the harp, Holy One of Israel!
71.23
In praising you, I will have joy on my lips, joy in my soul which you have delivered;
71.24
My tongue will proclaim your righteousness every day, For those who seek my destruction are ashamed and ashamed.
