O my God, when my soul was in your grace, it was your friend, your daughter, your bride, your temple; but in sinning she has lost everything; she has become your enemy and the slave of hell. But I thank you for giving me the time to recover your grace. O my God, I deeply repent for having offended you. O infinite goodness! and I love you above all else. Ah! receive me again in your friendship; please do not disdain me.
I know very well that I would deserve to be chased away; but Jesus Christ, out of love for this sacrifice by which he immolated himself on Calvary, well deserved that you receive me in my repentance. "May your reign come." Mercy comes from the Latin misereri which means to have mercy and cor (heart).
