Psalms Friendship UnderstandingPsalm 18 is particularly effective for making new friends. Develop a pleasant attitude towards others and pray, real new friendships will be born.
18.1
(18:1) To the chief of the singers. From the servant of the LORD, from David, who spoke the words of this song to the LORD, when the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul. And he said: (18:2) I love thee, O LORD, my strength.
18.3
(18:3) The LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer. My God, my rock, where I take refuge. My shield, the strength that saves me, my high refuge.
18.4
(18:4) I cry out: Praise the LORD! And I am delivered from my enemies.

(18:5) The bonds of death had compassed me about, And the rivers of destruction had made me afraid;

(18:6) The bonds of the grave had compassed me about; The nets of death had taken me by surprise.

(18:7) In my trouble I called upon the LORD, I cried unto my God; he heard my voice out of his palace, and my cry came before him into his ears.

(18:8) The earth was shaken and trembled, and the foundations of the mountains shook, and they were shaken, because he was wroth.

(18:9) Smoke ascended up into his nostrils, and a devouring fire proceeded out of his mouth, and coals of fire came forth out of it.

(18:12) He made darkness his refuge, his tent round about him; He was covered with dark waters and dark clouds.

(18:14) The LORD thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice with hail and coals of fire.

(18:15) He sent forth his arrows, and scattered my enemies; He multiplied the thunderbolts of lightning, and routed them.

(18:16) The foundations of the world were uncovered by thy rebuke, O LORD. By the sound of the breath of your nostrils.

(18:17) He stretched out his hand from above, and took me; He drew me out of the great waters;

(18:18) He delivered me from my mighty adversary, From my enemies who were stronger than I.

(18:19) They overcame me in the day of my trouble: But the LORD was my helper.

(18:20) He hath put me out into the deep, And saved me, because he loveth me.

(18:21) The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness; He has recompensed me according to the cleanness of my hands;

(18:22) For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And have not been guilty to my God.

(18:23) All his ordinances have been before me, And I have not departed from his statutes.

(18:24) I have been blameless toward him, And have kept myself in remembrance of my iniquity.

(18:25) Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands before his eyes.

(18:26) With the good man you are good, And with the upright man you do according to righteousness,

(18:27) With him that is clean thou shalt be clean, And with the perverse thou shalt do according to his perverseness.

(18:28) You save the people that humble themselves, And lower the haughty eyes.

(18:29) You make my light shine; The LORD my God gives light to my darkness.

(18:30) With you I will rush against a troop of armed men. With my God I will go over a wall.

(18:31) The ways of God are perfect, The word of the LORD is tried; He is a shield for all who trust in Him.

(18:32) For who is God but the LORD? And who is a rock but our God?

(18:33) For God has girded me with strength, And led me in the right way.

(18:34) He makes my feet like hinds' feet, And sets me on my high places.

(18:35) He exercises my hands in battle, And my arms stretch out the bow of brass.

(18:36) You give me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand upholds me, And I am made great in your lovingkindness.

(18:37) You widen the way under my feet, And my feet shall not be moved.

(18:38) I will pursue after mine enemies, and overtake them; And I will not return until I have destroyed them.

(18:39) I have broken them, and they cannot rise up; they shall fall under my feet.

(18:40) Thou girdest me with strength for the battle: Thou girdest my adversaries under me.

(18:41) You have made my enemies turn their backs before me, And I have cut off those that hate me.

(18:42) They cry out, and there is none to save them. They cry out to the LORD, but he does not answer them.

(18:43) I will crush them like the dust of the wind. I will tread them down like the mire of the streets.

(18:44) You have delivered me from the strife of the people; You have made me head of the nations: A people whom I did not know has served me.

(18:45) They obey me at the first commandment; The sons of the stranger flatter me;

(18:46) The children of the stranger are in default, They tremble out of their strongholds.

(18:47) Long live the LORD, and blessed be my rock. Let the God of my salvation be exalted,

(18:48) The God who is my avenger, Who makes the people subject to me,

(18:49) Who will deliver me from mine enemies? You lift me up above my adversaries. You save me from the violent man.

(18:50) Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations. And I will sing praises to your name.
