In the silence of this night,
At the hour when all rests,
My soul watches and seeks You, O God.
Lord, in the stillness of this holy hour,
I lay before You my worries, my burdens, and my fears.
Have mercy on me, according to Your great mercy.
Heal the wounds of my heart and calm the turmoil of my thoughts.
At this hour when the world seems asleep,
May my prayer rise to You like pure incense.
I dedicate this night to You, my sleeplessness and my vigils.
Make this moment a loving encounter with You.
Jesus, light of the world,
Illuminate my darkness.
Holy Spirit, comforter,
Fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
I entrust to You those who, like me, are awake:

Mercy comes from the Latin misereri which means to have mercy and cor (heart).
Mercy is the deep attitude of the being characterised by the loving disposition to forgive. Sensitivity to the misery and suffering of others and a fundamental benevolence towards one's neighbour. This is one of the attributes of God that explains his entire plan for the salvation of humanity.
