Saints healing physical illnessesSaint Maurontius was born in the County of Ponthieu around 634 and was baptised by Saint Riquier. Influenced by the thought of Saint Amand (or Amandus), he became a monk and in 674 founded the Benedictine monastery at Breuil or (Brüel) on his land near present-day Merville (Maurandville). Saint Maurontius is the patron saint of the town of Douai. He is the protector of young people who, for a serious reason, wish to be exempted from armed service. He is especially invoked for small children suffering from xerophthalmia. At Saint Maurontius' well in Marchiennes, many healings took place by applying his water to the sick eyes.
INVOCATION:
You see, Lord, that I expect from you alone and from the intercession of Saint Maurontius, the healing of the sick which I recommend to you. You know, Lord, that I have placed all my hope in you, that I urge you to have regard, on our behalf, for the merits of your servant whom you have glorified by countless miracles. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Maurontius, be auspicious to us and cure us of all diseases of languor.
PRAYER:
Good Jesus, put under Barabbas, cursed by the Jews, and condemned to a terrible death on the cross, have mercy on me, Lord, have mercy on me. So be it.
