Psalm 140
140.1
(140: 1) To the Chief Musician. Psalm of David. (140: 2) Lord, deliver me from wicked men! Protect me from violent men.
140.2
(140: 3) Who have evil designs in their hearts, And are always ready to make war!
140.3
(140: 4) They sharpen their tongues like a snake, They have asp poison under their lips. Pause.
140.4
(140: 5) O LORD, save me from the hand of the wicked! Protect me from violent men, Who plan to bring me down!
140.5
(140: 6) The proud cast a snare and nets for me, they set nets along the way, they lie in wait for me. Pause.
140.6
(140: 7) I say to the Lord: You are my God! Lord, give ear to the voice of my supplications!
140.7
(140: 8) O Lord, Lord, strength of my salvation! You cover my head on the day of the fight.
140.8
(140: 9) O Lord, do not fulfill the desires of the wicked; do not let their plans succeed, lest they boast of them! Pause.
140.9
(140: 10) May on the heads of those around me fall the iniquity of their lips!
140.10
(140: 11) Let hot coals be cast on them! Let him throw them into the fire, Into abysses, from which they no longer rise!
140.11
(140: 12) The man whose tongue is false is not established on the earth; And the violent man, misfortune leads him to his destruction.
140.12
(140: 13) I know that the Lord gives justice to the wretched, Justice to the needy.
140.13
(140: 14) Yea, the righteous will praise your name; the upright will dwell before you.
