1st prayer
My God,
I repent with all my heart
to have offended
your sovereign majesty
and your infinite Goodness.
I hate all my sins
for the love of you;
I firmly propose to confess them
and correct me;
and I would rather die
than to offend you again.
2nd prayer
Before going to you,
I would like, O my Jesus,
feel perfect contrition
of my sins.
Give me the feelings
from Madeleine to your feet ...
As soon as she knew you,
subjugated by the invincible charm
of your kindness,
his repentance became ardent love.
Your divine goodness
Isn't she better known to me? I have sinned like Magdalene,
and you gave me more proof of love
than she had then;
because when she loved you,
you had not yet given
your life for her,
and for me you made the sacrifice.
Magdalene committed many sins,
but she was never ungrateful...
and of all mine,
ingratitude is the most common...
When her repentance earned her forgiveness,
she had received from you
but a merciful look,
and as often as you forgive me,
my reconciliation is sealed with your blood.
I am more guilty
and more favoured than the holy penitent!
Grant that I may show
indeed like her,
my repentance and my love!
