Saints Self-confidenceSaint Severinus was born towards the end of the 4th century and showed, from childhood, the greatest compassion towards the poor.
INVOCATION:
When I was in adversity, I cried to the LORD, I cried to my God, and he heard my voice out of his palace. and my cries reached to his ears. Then the earth was shaken and trembled, the foundations of the heavens collapsed and were shaken, because he was angry. Smoke rose from his nostrils, and a devouring fire came out of his mouth, and coals were kindled. So he lowered the heavens, and came down, having thick darkness at his feet. He was mounted on a cherub, he flew and was carried by the wings of the wind. And he put darkness around him like a tent, heaps of water, clouds that are in the air. The splendor before him lit coals of fire. The LORD thundered from heaven, and the Sovereign heard his voice. He shot arrows, and drove away my enemies; he made the lightning flash, and he routed them.
Saint Severinus, protect me.
Saint Severinus, pray for me.
Saint Severinus, cast out evil from before me.
PRAYER:
O my Jesus, cause me to always despise, and uproot in me entirely the guilty appetites of the flesh, as your holy will demands of me. Give me the strength to always walk in the justice that pleases your divine heart so much, and to never seek only your glory, either by doing good or by avoiding evil. And for this, attach to your holy cross my right hand, with the nail of temperance, and my left hand with that of justice. Pierce my right foot from the nail of that divine wisdom which directs to you all my thoughts, and which applies my mind to the consideration of your precepts; and pierce my left foot with the nail of an invincible firmness. So be it.
