Saint Martin was born in 316, Roman in heart and origin. However, the example of the Christians, the purity of their lives and the gentleness of their hearts soon led him to embrace the Christian faith. We know the episode of his cloak, half of which he gave to an unfortunate man to cover it.
He came to learn from Saint Hilaire, then bishop of Poitiers. Shortly afterwards, he founded the famous monastery of Ligugé near Poitiers. God granted him a long life which he used with untiring energy to fight and bring souls to God; his power over demons was remarkable. His path was marked by miracles and he even rose from the dead.
St. Martin is invoked against hepatic colic.

INVOCATION:
O most holy God, who illustrated Blessed Martin with admirable virtues and countless miracles, grant us the extraordinary graces and favors which we hope from your infinite goodness and from the prayers of your holy pontiff, who has always been distinguished by perfect charity. We pray to you through Our Lord Jesus Christ. So be it.
Saint Martin, be auspicious to us and fill us with all the good things you are so lavish on your servants.

PRAYER:
Lamb of God, who are the way, the truth, and the life, have mercy on me. So be it.
