Saints
Saint Anthelm, the Carthusian, found, when he arrived there, the Grande Chartreuse in ruins, both materially and morally. Animated with great energy, he raised the Grande Chartreuse from its ruins and gave the monks the courage they needed.
Called later to the episcopate of Belley (Ain), he traveled through his diocese in all directions, woke up his priests, attracted crowds, performed miracles, relieved the afflicted, helped the poor and the unfortunate.
When he died in 1177, the people of the diocese of Belley witnessed astonishing wonders.
Saint Anthelm remained the protector of the city of Belley.
Saint Anthelm is particularly invoked to obtain the healing of broken limbs.
Invocation
God of goodness, who filled for us the heart of Saint Anthelm with feelings of mercy and tenderness which the heart of Jesus Christ, your Son, was always penetrated for us, grant to all those who honor this blessed Bishop to live and to die in perfect conformity with your holy will and to be preserved from the plagues which our sins have deserved. We beg you by N.-S. AD So be it.
Saint Anthelm, who hears all who call on you, pray for us.
Prayer
O Jesus steeped in bitterness! I praise and glorify your infinite mercy, by which you wanted to be condemned to the most cruel death in your passion. So be it.
