O Jesus, friend of childhood, you who, from your tenderest years, grew visibly in wisdom and grace, before God and men;
You who, at the age of twelve, sitting in the Temple among the Doctors, listened to them attentively, questioned them humbly and admired them by the prudence and wisdom of your speeches; you who welcomed the children so willingly, blessed them and said to your disciples: "Let them come to me, for to those who are like them belongs the kingdom of heaven." Inspire in me, as you inspired in Saint Peter Canisius, model and guide of the perfect catechist, a deep respect and holy affection for children, a taste and dedication to teaching them Christian doctrine, a special ability to make them understand its mysteries and love its beauties. I ask you, O my Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. So be it.
